Dear Fellow Coach,

Of course, there’s a catch (actually, 3): you’ve got to be willing to be a trailblazer, and to let go of the belief that one-to-one coaching is the ONLY way you can successfully help your clients. And you’ve got to be ready to grow your business in a whole new way.

In fact, I did, at one point, too.

With a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, after 25 years in business, I was a highly sought-after coach. I loved helping my clients get results – but I also felt burned out and needed a break. I could only do so many sessions each day without feeling drained, and I couldn’t take time off.

Then I launched the Academic Writing Club, a revolutionary system to help academics finish their long-term writing projects (think dissertations, articles, chapters, books, or grant proposals). Participants wrote for a short time each weekday, and logged in daily to report their progress. A coach also commented about their progress each day.

It worked! Members saw amazing results. People who had been stuck and unable to write started writing. Those who had been writing in fits and starts began writing regularly. Graduate students finished their dissertations and became professors or landed their dream jobs. Professors finished their articles, books, or grants – and received tenure and promotions.

I was able to hire coaches to run the groups, and a manager to hire and train coaches and run the entire Writing Club.

Club members, by receiving coaching, developing a community, and seeing their progress graphed each day, saw the results they wanted to see.

What did it mean for me?

It meant leveraged and passive income.

I went on vacation. Not once, but twice, to Italy, once to Thailand, and several times to California. I now have more free time to work on new projects and I can choose exactly how much coaching I want to do daily, weekly, or monthly.

It all comes down to a system.

When you put into place a system that leverages your efforts – whether you’re just starting out or have a huge list of clamoring clients – you create ongoing passive income that works even when you don’t.
